Health Benefits of Ashtanga Yoga Every Morning in Daily life

Commonly called Power yoga, Ashtanga is definitely physically demanding. It's probably best suited for an ex-athlete or someone looking to really push their body.

Ashtanga Yoga is the royal eight fold yoga, standardized by the ancient sage Patanjali. It's outset and conclusion is the state of unlimited ecstasy and freedom that forms the core of our being. Patanjali calls this state object less samadhi, the Upanishads refer to it as the heart. As human society and it's individuals evolved more and more away from this true and original state, eight sequential steps were presented to get each individual back from wherever their current position is, back into contact with their heart.

The practice of these eight limbs can take up a copious amount of time of one's daily life. Since yoga and the Vedas out of which it grew are life affirmative, the Vedic Seer Vamana presented Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, a practice for householders-people with family and a job or business-in which the eight limbs were practiced simultaneously, not sequentially. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a presentation of Ashtanga Yoga, designed for urban people with time constraints.

Ashtanga Yoga employs a multitude of techniques, such as postures, breathing, concentration and meditation exercises. We could call it the yoga of techniques.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga differs from other forms of yoga in that it is dynamic, whereas most forms are static.

The benefits may be grouped into four categories:

physical, emotional, mental and intellectual benefits. The physical benefits consist of making the body free of disease, making it light and strong so that it can be a suitable vehicle on the path to freedom. Through yoga the body is made to absorb and retain Parana, which extends the life span.


The eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga are as follows:

1.Yama consists of steps designed to help people to dwell on the good and honorable virtues in humans. It comprises a set of ethical beliefs, viz., non violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, celibacy and to steer clear of envy, jealousy and other possessive and destructive behavior.

2.Niyama consists of steps that help us take control of our lives. Control, it is believed in Yoga, comes from personal restraint and Niyama is a combination of these checks. They are joy, patience, self study, purity and surrender to God.

3.Asana is the practice of doing Yoga postures for the improving the health of the body, mind and soul.

4.Pranayma consists of the practice of a set of breathing exercises.

5.Pratyahara is designed to help people isolate themselves from the hustle and bustle of the world. The point is to be able to let the mind focus withinward, thereby becoming a haven for positivity.

6.Dharna helps us concentrate. It helps us concentrate on personal development, to improve our understanding of our position in the overall scheme of life, and to develop long term goals in life.

7.Dhyana literally means meditation. It helps us focus on our mission and long terms goals through the practice of meditation.

8.Samadhi is the ultimate; it means attainment of a state of bliss and peace. Here lies the ability to find and focus on one’s life mission and to perennially strive to attain the final goal of personal enlightenment.
